HrConfMsgAutoResolved failure - Delegate calendar sync issue in owner's mailbox

$

Hi all:

I'm posting in the server forum because I can reproduce the issue affecting one mailbox with Outlook clients on multiple desktops and ActiveSync disabled.

Exchange Server 2010 SP2 UR4. Outlook 14.0.7106.5003 (32-bit) cached mode on Windows 7 Enterprise x64.

Obviously OWA and Outlook in on-line mode have no issues. When a delgate tries to reschedule a meeting, the update notification is successfully sent to the attendees but after about a minute the meeting "moves back" to the original time on the delegate's copy of the calendar (after the server synchronization fails). The sync process fails with the details below.

13:51:42 Checking local modifications

13:51:42 Overwrite property: 0x3FFA001F

13:51:42 Overwrite named property: 0x85970003

13:51:42 HRESULT: 0x80040305

13:51:42 HrConfMsgAutoResolved failure

I've done some quick searches with these details but so far haven't come up with anything that is applicable but still trying. Thank you for any assistance.

Transport rule to prepend messages sent to distribution group

$

I have setup a moderated distribution group, and I want to setup a transport rule so that all messages sent to the distribution group have a subject line pre-pended with a string like "[SALES]:" so when someone in the group receives the email, they will easily identify that it is coming from the distribution group rather than the person who sent an email to the distribution group.

Right now, when someone sends an email to the distribution group, you only see the person who sent the email as the sender.  We want to keep that so we know who sends the messages, but want to pre-pend the subect line so we know who it is from and the fact that they sent it to the distribution group.

The problem is the rules to choose from only allow me to prepend subject lines of emails sent to users and not distribution groups.  I've tried a number of ways that have failed.

Please help.

Unified Messaging Servers cannot deliver voicemail

Hello, we had 3 m/h/t servers and 2 UM servers. The 2 UM servers and 2 of the m/h/t servers were in the same Active Directory Site. We had a major Exchange crash and the 2 m/h/t servers in the same site as the 2 UM's are down and will not be rebuilt under their current names. The old servers have not had Exchange uninstalled yet and won't until the first week in January. The 2 UM servers are trying to deliver voicemails to the 2 servers that are down and not to the server we have left in a different AD site. We are getting Event ID 1423's. Can I do anything to get it to deliver to the proper server? I am wondering if we have to have a hub transport server in the same site as the Unified Messaging server.

Thanks for any help.

Process w3wp.exe () (PID=5420). User 'Sid~ADATUM\usernam~OWA~false' has gone over budget '23' times for component 'OWA' within a one minute period. Info: 'Policy:DefaultThrottlingPolicy_123456677899etc, Parts:AD:22;'. Threshold value: '10'.

I beleive that this may be a thottling issue but just started happening after the latest exchange 2010 SP3 Rollup 3.

How specifically do I fix this?

Exchange 2010 Messages Stuck in Queue for 1 to 2 hours

Hi, I have a intra site exchange 2010 server that is having a problem queuing up all messages sent out of site to it in the "SMTP Relay to Remote Active Directory Site" and "Shadow Redundancy" queues. There are no errors for messages in the queues. I have tested SMTP between servers with telnet successfully and can even send myself an email message via telnet and it comes right away. I have restarted Exchange and the DC, all looks good, all the settings are the same as this server has had no problems since it was put into place a year ago. This just started happening yesterday evening. Any suggestions?

Export Dynamic Group members email addresses to a txt or csv file?

$

Hello,

I'm running Exchange 2010 SP2. I have a dynamic distribution group. I'm trying to export the list of users and their primary SMTP addresses to a file.

I was running the following exchange shell command:

$members = Get-DynamicDistributionGroup "GroupName"
Get-Recipient -RecipientPreviewFilter $members.RecipientFilter | select Displayname,PrimarySmtpAddress > GroupName.txt

This command works but it's pulling info for every user in the environment not for the specific group. How can I adjust this command to just get the required info for the specific group?

Thanks

The new New-MailboxImportRequest cmdlt imports data and user permissions from PST file instead of just data?

$

This behavior was controlled by the installation of Outlook and its associated patches for the earlier cmdlt import-mailbox Pre-SP1. Since the whole attraction of the New-MailboxImportRequest cmdlt in SP1 is the ability to remove Outlook installations from the process, how do we prevent the permissions from being imported and over writing what is already in a users mailbox? This *feature* is not documented anywhere in the cmdlts get-help or in any of the the TechNet articles on the MS site. So if we still have the same problem with the new New-MailboxImportRequest cmdlt how do we prevent this from happening again.

We have a script process that exports a custom holiday calendar and imports it into every users mailbox, this process exported the pst file correctly and imports the data correctly, but in the process it replaced the permissions on all the calendars with what was in the exported pst file, removed anyone that was in the permissions for the calendar and broke all the delegation on every calendar, which also had to be removed and re-added. Great work Microsoft, SP1 strikes again.

These are the commands we run to export and import:

New-MailboxExportRequest -Mailbox "holidays@domain.com" -IncludeFolders "#Calendar#" -Filepath "\\SERVER\c$\TaskScripts\holidays.pst"

New-MailboxImportRequest -Mailbox "$name" -FilePath "\\SERVER\c$\TaskScripts\holidays.pst" -Confirm:$False

I have tried variations on the switches and source and target folders all with the same result, the pst file and command over writes the calendar permissions and no documentation exists to explain why or how to prevent this behavior.

Emails not receiving from outside email addresses

We are running Outlook 2010 and exchange server 2010. During this week couple of users complained me they don’t receive some emails from senders (outside email address). So, how could I resolve this issue? I have couple of questions. I would really appreciate if someone helps me on this.

1. How do I check enable and disable email addresses?

2. How to monitor incoming and drop emails?

3. Finally how to resolve this problem?

Use inbox rule to create auto-create a calender event with OWA or Outlook

I have emails that come are auto generated from another system.  These emails include a name, date and time of when people clock in, and out from door access control system.

I was hoping to create a calender event using an inbox rule or any other creative way so that I can have a calender showing who is "IN" and who is "OUT" of the office.  This could simply be a calender event, or even a status change.

Has anyone done this before, perhaps with 3rd party software?

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Heartbeat for CAS/Hub servers?

Hello,

Is there such thing as extending the heartbeat for the CAS/Hub servers?

The reason I asked was a while ago we had to increase the heartbeat of the DAG servers because during a backup (snapshot, the passive node was switched over often).  We followed the KB and it fixed the issue.

Distribution Group with members that are hidden from the GAL not receiving email sent to the group.

$

I have a distribution group with the members being other distribution groups of which some are hidden from the GAL.  In Exchange 2007, I believe those hidden members were visible when expanding the group in the 'To:' field and they (the hidden groups and their members) received emails sent to the group.  I'm not sure, but I think that either after we upgraded to Exchange 2010, or after a service pack or update, you can no longer see those hidden members when expanding the group and those staff that are members of the distribution groups that are hidden, don't receive the emails sent to the group.

Is this by design?  Is there some way to keep some of the members hidden and still allow them to receive the emails sent to the group?

Outlook 2010 Problem opening shared mailbox "the set of folders cannot be opened. Microsoft Exchange is not available"

$

Hi, I have a number of mailboxes configured for sharing.

For those users who have full access rights (given via EMC) the mailboxes automatically appear in Outlook 2010.

However for one of those mailboxes the users recieve the following error when they try to access it:

"The Set of Folders cannot be opened. Microsoft Exchange is not available. Either there are network problems or the Exchange server is down for maintenance."

Meanwhile the users' primary mailboxes continue to work as normal, as do the other mailboxes that have been shared with them.

The output of get-mailboxpermissions for the problematic mailbox is the same as the output for a full working one.

If I add the mailbox to my account (as though I was using Outlook 2003) it allows me access, however I then have the situation of having the mailbox listed twice, one working the other not.

How do I get this mailbox to behave as expected?

Many thanks

Nick

Disable archiving for Deleted Items

I have retention policy to move all mail items after 90 days to archive mailbox. Is there way to
stop deleted Items from moving to Archive mailbox. I want to know if there is a
way on the exchange configuration to do this. Rather than doing it through
outlook or OWA.<o:p></o:p>

DAG Question

I'm a bit confused about how DAG's work.  Exchange 2010, with 3 servers in my DAG.  I need to install updates on my exchange servers.  What is the best method without impacting my users during the day?  I understood you unmount or move the database to another server and suspend database copy, shut down all exchange services, then install patches, reboot and resume database copy and mount databases back on that server.  Question is, when I move database and stop services users call complaining they are not able to use their datase.  I thought the purpose of a DAG was so users won't experience any downtimes.  Can someone explain to me what or how I should be going about this?

Hi,

I need to export calendar permissions for a single user (I will have to
reimport it later after making some changes). I just can't find very good
documentation on what to select for the options or the strings. If anyone uses
it quite a bit, could you please lend me some assistance in figuring out how to
use the tool?
We are running Exchange 2010 latest SP.

Thank you,

Exchange 2010 mailbox Export and SoftDelete

$

Exported a mailbox to PST yesterday using EMS.  Come in this morning sand notice I have a disconnected mailbox.  It's the mailbox I exported and it's reflecting the wrong mailbox database (I have two). I try to connect it using EMC, but the user it belongs to does not show up in the list.  In fact, only 7 users show up in the list and 6 of them are not even actual users, but built-in accounts.

Was able to restore it with EMS so all good there, but my question is how did it get there?  It was in SoftDelete status.  No one deleted it!

Googling for this is nearly pointless because all I get is stuff about exporting mailboxes or exporting disconnected mailboxes.

Why was it disconnected?
Why was it soft deleted?
Why was it showing the wrong database?

Is it expected behavior that after exporting a mailbox it is disconnected and put in softdelete status?
